The star has been writing history in Tyrol for over 500 years and hides impressive things behind its traditional walls. René Föger, who took over the property a few years ago, transformed it into Austria’s first climate-neutral hotel. The Butz and Stingl concept in the kitchen as well as the innovative eco-indoor pool are just two examples of the sustainable approaches at all levels in the Hotel Stern, with which guests dealt with the topic of sustainability in a pleasant way. The motto of the house is “I schaug auf Di. Du schaugsch auf mi.” and shapes the warm atmosphere in which guests of all ages feel equally comfortable.
Families sleep in the natural rooms, equipped with larch wood from the area and are cooked with delicious dishes made from regional ingredients. In the Stern you want the guests to feel at home – especially for this the only 40 rooms in the house are made to feel the homely and personal charm everywhere. This warm feeling is also given by the warm larch wood, which runs through the entire hotel and simply smells wonderful. Even in the rooms, everything was simply thought of for families, because the host is himself the dad of four kids and knows very well what it takes for a pleasant stay, from practical storage space to cozy subtleties. By the way, there are also rooms in the Stern for families with up to 4 children.
Wellness
The Stern boasts the “first sustainable indoor pool in the Alpine region,” ingeniously built underground to minimize its footprint. Thanks to a thorough overhaul of its technology, the hotel now consumes less energy than before, despite featuring an indoor pool. Moreover, all of its energy is sourced from sustainable sources. Far from being mundane, this eco-friendly swimming pool surprises guests with amenities like the Trioslide slide, baby pool, waterfall, and bubble bench—ensuring maximum enjoyment with minimal environmental impact. An easy trick to reduce chlorine usage is simply ensuring each guest showers before entering the pool area.
For parents seeking relaxation, there’s a panoramic sauna and a rooftop terrace where you can marvel at the Alpine glow in the evenings.
Culinary
The Tyrolean inn at Hotel Stern offers refined dining with a commitment to sustainability, following the “Butz and Stingl” philosophy. Meals are crafted using fully recycled ingredients that everyone can savor, including Tyrolean apple strudel made from Grandma’s recipe.
