The WildeWasserWeg in the Stubai Valley is the perfect family hike in Tyrol. It offers a combination of impressive nature, adventure and refreshment in the heart of the Tyrolean Alps. This is what makes it special: The WildeWasserWeg trail offers unparalleled access to the dynamic and beautiful forms of water. You can also stop at a mountain hut for refreshments.

The 4 km circular trail is family-friendly and starts at the Grawa Alm. From the outset, the trail offers a taste of the spectacular scenery that awaits. It leads directly to the Grawa waterfall, the widest in the Eastern Alps. It is not just an impressive natural spectacle, but also has a soothing effect. The fresh spray of the cascading water provides a welcome cool-down on hot summer days.

We forge ahead, the path winding alongside the river. The hundreds of stacks of stones around the water are calling out for you to add another one and contribute to the collective work of art. The scenery is undoubtedly film-like, and it’s not implausible to imagine a hobbit lurking behind a tree.

You can dip your feet in the cool water at many points on the family hike in Tyrol. Kids absolutely love this! The narrow, winding paths are an adventure and delight the little ones, re-energising them despite the exertion. They had found their second wind here, no doubt about it!

The Tschangelair Alm and the WildeWasserArena

You will soon see the Tschangelair Alm, which is the perfect place to take a short break. Here you can fortify yourself with regional delicacies and take a deep breath. The route then continues through the Ruetz cataract – a narrow gorge where the water rages wildly and nature shows all its power.

Make sure you head to the Klaus Äuele local recreation area for even more cooling off and water fun. Here you can splash, play and relax in the clear water to your heart’s content – a wonderful place to end the day.
