Easy circular route in Merano for hiking with children!
Advertising: We were able to discover this circular trail in Merano/Meran for hiking with children as part of our collaboration with the Lana tourist board.
The short climb in Gargazon to the Kröllturm tower with a detour to the waterfall combines history and nature in Merano/Meran when hiking with children. The majestic Kröllturm tower, which proudly adorns the village’s coat of arms, dates back to the Middle Ages and offers a picture-book view of the Adige Valley. The excursion can be ideally combined with a visit to the orchid museum next door or the Gargazon natural swimming pool.
The Kröllturm circuit does not start at the tower itself, but leads you from the village square in Gargazon along a newly designed path. Various viewing platforms and rest areas await you along the way to break up the ascent.
A short detour to the Aschler Bach waterfall (just follow the signs) rewards you with an impressive natural spectacle, where the water thunders over 40 metres into the gorge, whirling up a refreshing steam.
Back on the hiking trail, the Kröllturm tower rises up a few metres further on as a striking reminder of times gone by. You can also take a seat in front of the tower and enjoy the view. The way back leads through the old quarry before you reach the Gargazon houses and return to the starting point.
There are car parks near the parish church and the village of Gargazon. Alternatively, Gargazon is also easily accessible by bike, bus or train.
Good to know: Before you set off, remember to wear good hiking boots.
