The village loop through Warth
Just the right tour to stretch your legs right after arrival and get to know the place of Warth. It first goes in the direction of Steffisalp-Express past the village church and beautiful schindlhäuser (did you know that each wooden shingle is made by hand and attached individually to the house?). From there, go up the street briefly to the right and down into nature. Now you have a beautiful view of the village from a little further up. Back it goes over the center of the village down to the Seebachsee, past cow pastures and into the forest. There, the success story of the Olympic champion Johannes Strolz from Warth is currently told on display boards. (Duration approx. 2 hours with children and fun on the water)
Hiking to the most beautiful place in Austria
A highlight that you absolutely have to do in Vorarlberg on holiday with children is the hike to the Körbersee, the officially most beautiful place in Austria. In fact, the mountain lake can only be reached on foot or in winter on skis. By bus it goes from the center of the village to the stop Hochtannbergpass. Once there, you first go to the Kalbelesee, which is also already picturesque. Then it goes into the middle of the mountains and after a short stretch uphill you can already see the Körbersee in front of you. In summer you can go swimming and even take a rowing boat on it. Simply a wonderful place for a holiday with children in Vorarlberg. Directly on the lake is the Berghotel Körbersee with restaurant. There are drinks to warm up and cool down – depending on the weather and numerous dishes from the region. After the kids have played extensively around the lake, it is slowly going back. (Duration for round-trip: approx. 1.5 hours)
Hiking with first-class mountain views
Mountain hiking downhill instead of uphill and the kids run by themselves! There is an endless mountain panorama on this hike from the mountain station of the Steffisalp-Express via the Wannenkopf to Bürstegg. Bürstegg is formerly the highest Walsersiedlung in Vorarlberg and is worth a stop on holiday with children. Time seems to have stopped here! If you listen, you can even hear the Lech noise. It continues in the direction of Bodenalpe for all hungry hikers. From deer ham and farmer’s duck to topfennockerl are conjured up on the table with love in the Bodenalpe. Before that, it is worth taking a look at their website, as the Alpe is not open all year round. Back to Warth to the holiday refuge ALPINA it goes by bus.
Haubenküche and bistro in Warth
In our favorite accommodation, the ALPIN Studios & Suites, there are fine dishes in the Trust refrigerator also made of regional products and production for warming up in the apartment. So you can spend a maximum of time outside and have to take minimally little time to prepare food on holiday. Practical! If you feel like going to a restaurant – maybe even a special one – you’ve come to the right place in Warth. In the Biberkopf directly on the village square there is traditional cuisine, interpreted in a modern way, two hoods are included. We dared to go to dinner there with the children. Trying kids are in the right place here, but habitual people are also well served with the classic and fabulously good Wiener Schnitzel.

On the way home, the route leads past the Lechtaler Naturkäserei in Steeg. The family-run cheese dairy has opened its show cheese dairy for all curious cheese lovers. Through large window panes you can watch the cheese production and then try your way through the assortment in the store. By the way, there is homemade ice cream for the children. Trying a ball is very worthwhile. With the ice cream in your hand, it goes to the Lech, which rushes right behind the cheese dairy.
