MILAN WITH CHILDREN: TIPS & FAVORITE PLACES

A city that is fun for parents and kids!

Share with family and friends

Milan is a city that can be visited carefree in any weather and in any season. It has just the right size for a family city trip: big enough to discover new places again and again and small enough to reach everything on foot. In addition, Milan is child-friendly enough to feel welcome with children and cones. Oh Milan, we have so many good memories and would like to briefly introduce you to a few favorite places in Milan with children that we personally particularly liked.

Sight of sight and green space in one fell swop

In addition to all the other sights, we only want to recommend Sforzesco Castle here, because it is the perfect place to rest from the city tour. There is a huge park that lines the castle and is beautifully landscaped.

Entertainment while sightseeing in Milan with children

The lucky charm ritual in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele is particularly well met by the kids. A well-known tradition, both among locals and visitors from all over the world. It consists of finding the bull on the tiled floor (it’s not difficult, because you can already see a small hole there). Then you turn three times around your own axis and thus circle a portion of luck to the faith of the Milanese. Where exactly you step the bull in the ground, we leave it open here as a surprise.

Bad weather tip for Milan with children

Space Dreamers: In the middle of the city center is the museum for everyone interested in the universe and space travel. Perfect to take a few hours break from the city with the kids here and immerse yourself in another world, where touching and participating is absolutely desired. A highlight is the huge ball pool under the shining moon. The exhibition is in Italian and English, which the kids usually don’t care about the interactive games anyway. You can book the tickets online or buy them directly on site.

Going out to eat in Milan with children

A must are the Panzerotti at LUINI. The shop has been making history in Milan for many years, not because it would be so beautiful there, but because the Panzerottis are simply really good. The dumplings are filled from hearty to sweet and a quick meal on hand. Perfect for a nimble lunch. Young and old meet here and that’s exactly what makes this place so special.

At the Aperitivo in Milan, all locals gather in the Milan bars and restaurants in the early afternoon. If you order a drink, you get food for free. The small snacks are so popular, especially with the kids, that they even voluntarily sit at the table. Our tip: God Safe The Food. The restaurant in front of the church is ideal for an aperitif with kids, because there is a terrace and a car-free courtyard in front of the door.

For dinner we recommend Non Solo Lesso, where the real Milanese meet for dinner. Specialties such as ossobuco (a traditional stew with saffron risotto) are served. Ravioli and schnitzel in Milanese style are also on the menu.

On the road in Milan – nothing is cooler than the tram

Be sure to leave the car in Milan with children and take the tram. It reminds us a little of Lisbon, because the historic wagons bring as much nostalgia as those of the Portuguese capital. So you can’t get anything from A to B in no time and you can also enjoy the cinema in front of the window and thus immerse yourself even more in the city. By the way, children travel for free and the day tickets for adults are a bargain.

Be sure to do – day trip to Bergamo Alto!

Small but fine, this beautiful, little-known city is located only 30 minutes from Milan – also easily accessible by train. The old town of Bergamo, also known as Città Alta, towers 100 meters above the plain and looks like it has sprung from a fairy tale. Through the car-free alleys you can stroll comfortably and admire the old churches. In addition, there are many first-class restaurants in the old town, and the café “La Marianna” (Largo colle Aperto,4 , Bergamo Alta) scores with the invention of the Stracciatella ice cream. Be sure to take time for a day trip to Bergamo, it’s worth it.

Hotel in Milan with children

Unfortunately, we were really unlucky with our hotel in Milan. Next time we would definitely choose the Un Posto a Milano. A beautiful house with a very good restaurant in the middle of the city and absolutely attractive in terms of price.
