Once you’ve been to Reka, you’re hooked! Since we spent a few days at the Reka holiday village in Disentis, we know exactly why every fifth Swiss family chooses to spend their holiday at one of Reka’s resorts, holiday villages or holiday flats. As you can see, we’re really excited to tell you more about this.
But right from the start, Reka has been on a mission since 1939 to “make holidays and leisure time possible for everyone.” Reka, which stands for Swiss Travel Fund, has become a well-known name in Switzerland. While the non-profit organisation is well-known everywhere in Switzerland, Reka is still an insider tip in Germany. The holiday villages are also a great deal and guarantee affordable family holidays in Switzerland.
On the trail of gold in the Reka holiday village of Disentis
Every Reka accommodation is different and tailored to the specific holiday region. In Disentis, the whole theme is gold. As you come in, you’ll see an illustration of a donkey, which ties in with the fairy tale “The Little Table, the Golden Donkey and the Cudgel from the Sack”. In the playground, kids can get their hands dirty and try their luck at being gold diggers. And in the indoor pool, the wall glitters like a gold rush.
What’s really special about this is that every visitor gets to know the region. Reka works with local producers who make the furniture, for example. Food is also sourced from local farmers. Holidays with a connection to sustainability are the order of the day in the Reka holiday village – as is the new Swisstainable Kids family offer, which is making its debut this year and will also take place in the Disentis holiday village at the end of August.
Holiday flats with mountain views
The Reka holiday village in Disentis is just outside the centre of the village, but the mountain station and the nearest supermarket are not far away and the beautiful countryside is right on the doorstep. What we loved most about this place was how it blended the holiday vibe with the natural surroundings. You instantly feel connected to the area and enjoy its peaceful atmosphere.
There are 52 spacious holiday flats in six buildings, all with a kitchenette and a balcony with incredible views of the Surselva. There are even some with up to three bedrooms, so there’s something for every family.
Kids
The kids love the spacious play areas throughout the holiday village, as well as the pool and the football pitch right next door. They have simply been thought of everywhere. In the Rekalino Kidsclub, there are numerous activities waiting to be discovered. Here they cook, do crafts and play together, sometimes with and sometimes without their parents.
Meals
You can arrange your catering however you like. You can either cook for yourself in the fully equipped apartments (the nearest supermarket is only about 10 minutes away and there is a small shop in the holiday village itself with basics such as coffee, pasta, etc.) or you can book breakfast and dinner on the days you want.
We were really happy with the Reka holiday villages in Disentis and Zinal and we think that once you’ve been on holiday with Reka, you’ll want to come back.
