So we embarked on a special adventure: a night at Lockenhaus Castle, with castle walls that still tell the stories of the 13th century.

A night at Lockenhaus Castle

Lockenhaus Castle is a place where the past comes to life. In the old walls of the castle, you can not only immerse yourself in the fascinating stories of knights and damsels, but also spend the night in their former home.

Rooms

For families, there are suitable family rooms in the castle itself, which offer plenty of space with a pull-out couch. Alternatively, you can stay in the adjacent castle hotel. Fortunately, these days all rooms are equipped with running, warm water and a private bathroom. Some rooms even have a television. But what makes the castle special is the view of the surrounding landscape.

Fascinating castle tours

During your stay at Lockenhaus Castle, you have the opportunity to take part in an exciting castle tour that takes you to the most secret and remote corners of the castle. All tours offer insights into the historical background and architecture of the castle. Much is still a mystery to this day, such as an underground place of worship that may provide a clue to the Knights Templar. These explorations are a great adventure, especially for children, leaving them with shining eyes and many new impressions. You can also book the castle tour as a day visitor. It’s worth it!

Highlight: Knight’s meal at Lockenhaus Castle

We have been told that the knight’s meal at Lockenhaus Castle is an experience in itself. At the robber baron’s meal or the farmhand’s meal, you eat with your fingers, a knife and an apron, just like in the old days. A reservation is essential.
