We can promise you one thing: your kids will have an amazing time at Familypark Neusiedler See. It’ll be their favourite day out, and they’ll still be talking about it and enjoying the rides and attractions months later.

It’s well worth taking a look at the early history of Familypark on Lake Neusiedl. It all started back in 1965 with a dream of Erwin Müller, a stonemason in the Roman quarry. He was particularly inspired by the fairy-tale parks that were being created at the time and started working on the first figures on his own initiative. A year later, he opened the fairytale forest in Schützen am Gebirge. Once the lease was up, the family found a new spot in St. Margarethen.

Since then, the park has grown continuously and the Märchenwald has become the Familypark, which now covers an area of over 145,000 m². You can still find beautifully designed fairy-tale stations in today’s largest leisure and family park in Austria. The park not only encourages imaginative play but also offers a good variety of experiences, from the initial excitement of entering the theme park to the more relaxed moments spent exploring its many attractions. This is one of the reasons why the Familypark has consistently impressed us.

Here are a few tips for a visit to Familypark:

If you want to give your kids a thrill with a visit to Familypark, it’s worth planning in advance. You can easily book tickets online and get an overview of the various attractions on the park map. Needless to say, this also really gets the kids excited. The great thing is that there’s something for everyone. From a relaxing ride on the Waldexpress to an exhilarating experience on the Azurgo giant swing.

There are also playgrounds and restaurants where you can take a break and get something to eat. There’s something for everyone here, and if the kids had their way, they’d probably buy the whole sweet shop out! The sweet shop is packed with everything a child could possibly want when it comes to sweets. If you want to rack up an extra bonus point, be sure to take a quick (or longer) look inside.

The park has been designed with everyone in mind. It’s a great place for kids to let their imaginations run wild and have fun, and parents can join in too, without it being overwhelming. The attractions and rides are surrounded by lots of trees and there’s relaxing music playing from the loudspeakers. If you’ve been to other theme parks, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by how tranquil Familypark is.

Here’s a quick overview of what Familypark has to offer, split by age group.
The park is divided into different adventure areas. There are four main areas: the Farm, Adventure Castle, Adventure Island and Fairytale Forest. To avoid having to cross the park, it’s a good idea to tackle one area at a time. I’ve put together a few highlights for you.

Adventure Castle

  • There’s a balloon carousel, duck parade and dragon ride for younger kids, and then for older kids: Stellarium, Azurgo and Eagle Flight
    Farm
  • For older kids: Scarecrow, Beaver Castle and Rat Express

Adventure Island

  • For younger kids: Pirate Trail, Temple Slide and the huge playground
  • For older kids: Lightning of the Gods, Leonardo’s Flying Machine and Crocodile Train

Fairytale Forest

  • The Fairytale Forest is the historical part of the park, hidden in the shady oak forest. Many an adult has come here to relive their childhood memories. You should definitely make a detour.
