Get out and enjoy on nostalgic trains!

The Sonnenland trolley tour is a lovely way to explore the area. You hop on one of the rolling rail vehicles together and off you go! It’s really handy too, because you get to stop at different stations where you can treat yourself to some delicious local food and take a little break.

In between, we open barriers along the way, and the kids are also allowed to lend a hand, which they absolutely love! The trolleys pick up a lot of speed because two people are always pedalling hard, so the ride really does go by in a whirlwind – it’s so much fun!

Günter, the owner, had the brilliant idea of reviving the old railroad line more than 20 years ago. He was initially ridiculed for it, but anyone who sees this masterpiece now can only admire it! A trolley tour like this combines a journey of discovery on disused tracks with experiences of nature and enjoyment in a wonderful new way.

Suggested breaks

Stopping along the way is not only encouraged, it is a must. Along the way, you can enjoy the culinary delights that Sonnenland has to offer, including the region’s exquisite wines. There are three hosted stops along the way. If you want to take a break, you can simply lift the trolley off the track and continue later.

Magazine: If you want to fortify yourself for the journey with a hearty meal, the magazine in Stoob is the place to go.

Halfway station: The new restaurant at the old St. Martin station is the heart of the trolley tour. With a high-quality concept, it offers new worlds of taste and a unique location in the middle of the sunny country. The cuisine focuses on regional dishes in a new interpretation.

Station bakery in Lackenbach: The “sweet station” is a charming self-service restaurant with a nostalgic flair that will delight all lovers of baked goods. Freshly made pancakes, savoury waffles and fine desserts are served here.

Practical information

The entire route is 23 km long and takes about 2 hours to complete. At the starting point you will be given a trolley to take up to 12 people. You can take it in turns to kick. The route between Neckenmarkt and Oberpullendorf is flat and has only minimal gradients. That’s why children love pedalling too. The season starts in April and you can cycle the route until October.
